Gabriel Krestin is professor of radiology and chairman of the Department of Radiology & Nuclear Medicine at Erasmus MC, University Medical Center Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
He obtained his medical degree at the University of Cologne in Germany, where he completed his PhD on experimental and clinical applications of fast gradient-echo MR imaging in the abdomen in 1990. Before being appointed at the Erasmus MC Rotterdam, prof. Krestin held the position of head of the MRI center at the Zürich University Hospital. Additionally, he was acting chairman of the diagnostic radiology department in Zürich. Furthermore, he was a permanent visiting professor at Stanford University Medical School.
Prof. Krestin is very active shaper of the future or radiology globally and is a former president of the European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology (ESMRMB) of the European Society of Radiology (ESR) and Past President of the International Society for Strategic Studies in Radiology (IS3R). Prof. Krestin received many awards, including the Gold Medal of the ESR, the Albers Schönberg Medal of the German Society of Radiology, the Schinz Medal of the Swiss Society of Radiology and he holds many honorary memberships of various national radiology societies. He is a member of the US National Academy of Medicine.
Prof. Krestin founded Quantib in 2012 and is a member of the supervisory board from the start.
